Homework:
Assigned homework must be neat, complete, and handed in on time. If a student is absent, he/she will be given one day for each day missed to make up the work. The student is responsible for gathering missed assignments and scheduling make up times for tests.

What you can expect to learn in 6th Grade Math:
- Expressions & Equations: Solve one-step equations and inequalities.
- Geometry: Find areas of triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons. Find distance between points. Draw polygons use coordinate plane to find lengths of sides. Use nets to find surface areas. Find the volumes of prisms with fractional edge lengths.
- The Number System: Evaluate whole numbers with exponents. Find GCF and LCM of two numbers. Divide fractions and mixed numbers. +, -, x, and ÷ decimals. Describe quantities with positive and negative numbers. Compare and order integers and absolute value. Graph ordered pairs.
- Ratios & Proportional Relationships: Understand rates, ratios, and unit rate. Compare ratios using table. Find percent as a rate. Find the whole, using part and the percent. Convert measurement units
- Statistics and Probability: Recognize statistical questions. Understand data has a distribution with a mean, median, mode and range. Summarize data. Use and create line plots, stem-and-leaf plots, histograms, and box and whisker plots. Choose appropriate measure of center. Describe data using center, spread, and shape.
